Music is an integral part of our lives. Classical, jazz, country, hip hop, you name it. I do teach my tribe the importance of knowing what the music they are listening to represents and what the lyrics truly mean before adding it to their playlists. Guarding your heart comes before a good beat. I know it’s a struggle growing up in a society were wrong is not wrong and a lie is not a lie. This world will spit out anyone who doesnt know who they are. That’s why I love that there are so many trail blazing Christian hip hop (CHH) artist. There has been a great deal of buzz lately about the artist in 116. I will judge them by their fruit. At the time of this concert Lacrae was out of country doing missions. We listened to Andy Mineo during the question/ answer segment speaking from a humble heart about his love for God and inspiring all the youth around him to be all in. I hope they continue to be Godly examples for this generation. To much is given much is expected. Tres is a young artists with big goals. He desires to teach the world and change the world. He calls himself the Unknown Overcomer. Whether he gets the chance to influence the masses or just continues to shine light on our little community, he understands his voice is powerful. His music is powerful. All music is powerful. Where there is power there is responsibility. No matter how big your following.
Nat LOVES all things Broadway. Her play list is full of an eclectic mix of show tunes. When I told her we were going to see Newsies I thought she would go hoarse with her excitement. During the performance I loved watching the awe in her face with each song and dance. She had quite the crush on Crutchy. It is safe to say she is addicted to Broadway. I’m pretty enamored myself.
One would think anatomy is the only class Kobe takes as much as I talk about it. They just do so much cool stuff! Last week they discussed tendons and his teacher brought in chicken feet to disect and show how each toe moves when specific tendons are manipulated. Afterwards if they wanted the kids could take their chicken foot home. Once home Kobe mostly used his to torment his siblings. The learning was good while it lasted!
We showed up to Kobe’s first flag football practice expecting to be spectators. Mo never stays in that role long when it comes to our kids participation in sports. He always ends up on the sidelines, then on the field. The organization was actually glad for the support and wheeled him in to help with coaching. It was not difficult. I love seeing him out on the field with our children.
Tori loves anchors. One of her favorite bible passages is: Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
Hebrews 6:17-19 NIV
We knew she would love an anchor theme for her bridal shower! Sunflowers and anchors…both so Tori. Her bridesmaids were wonderful with helping to put it all together and make sure everything went smoothly. A sweet day anchored in family and friends.
The Kansas girl in me loves an authentic pumpkin patch where you can pick your pumpkin from the vine and go on a hay ride before you go home. Unfortunately we do not have those kinds of pumpkin patches nearby. We did find a fun pumpkin “stand” to select our future jack ‘o’ lanterns at and take some cute pics. Kobe was seriously committed to his Avatar costume complete with a shaved head. Natalie and her best friend Makenzie were their versions of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. We go back and forth each year between going to Harvest Festivals or staying home. This year we were lazy and stayed home passing out candy.
