Life is gritty, messy, chaotic and imperfect. I want to remember every moment of it!

We decided to visit my sister-in-love Keanna in Washington D.C. for spring break. We were able to stay for a week but realized in our last few days that it was still not enough time. It was so amazing walking around the monuments and realizing just how much history had taken place right under our feet. Standing in the Washington Mall, allowing my imagination to erase all the people around me, I could just hear the words of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I have a dream speech.” Over and over words like justice, liberty, freedom and honor rang around each structure. The cherry blossom trees were in full bloom during our stay. The gorgeous pink blooms loomed over our heads and under our feet. Displayed above is the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, the Capital building, Ford Theater were Lincoln was shot, the room Lincoln died in, WWII memorial, American Red Cross national headquarters, the Vietnam Memorial, Korean Memorial, the Pentagon and the White House. Keanna’s best friend Serenna’s sister Christiana (are you with me?) works at the Pentagon. She graciously arranged for us to have a tour. That was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Of course she would not take us to the -36 floor that lies deep under the structure. She SAYS it doesn’t really exist…we don’t believe her. LOL
I had such a great time!! It was way to quiet after you guys left =) Miss you guys like crazy!!!
