Birthday Glamping…kinda

Natalie wanted to go Glamping for her 17th birthday. That was a difficult task in the mist of the current pandemic. Instead we found a tiny house in Sarasota, FL to stay in. The girls had a blast. Highlights: morning at the beach, Mo’s shrimp dinner, discovering the best quacamole ever.

Ahmaud

I walked the beach today. My knee protested the attempt of a run. Ahmaud shares a birthday with my Natalie. As we celebrated her I couldn’t help thinking about his mama. How heartbreaking this day has been for her. In my sadness though I have new hope. Hope with the arrest. Hope in the prominent Christian leaders who have chosen […]

Pro All Life

I want to rage. And weep. And cuss and scream. Scream at the top of my lungs…. DO YOU NOT SEE HIM? Do you not see his bleeding, lifeless body in the street?  If it doesn’t make you angry,  If it doesn’t make you want to move or speak, Than you stand with the bigots who slayed him. Your indifference […]

Unexpected Goodbyes

Repost from Tori’s Facebook because it’s easier to use her words right now than to express the heartache in my own. This pandemic has caused so much separation and isolation. We can’t go home. So many unsaid goodbyes. My grandfather died on Friday. Our family does everything big, births are big, holidays are big, funerals are big. We couldn’t celebrate […]

Overcommer

This guy right here is the biggest dreamer you will ever meet. He has big, swiss mountain size dreams. He started writing rap lyrics at 19 as a way to fight through the emotions he had dealing with depression and a physical disability. His lyrics not only woke up something creatively beautiful in his soul they woke up us, as […]

Bellagio B&B

The Bellagio is an area that is very touristy and congested which made us appreciate the  quiet spaces of our bed and breakfast. It was located in a secluded area of Lake Como with gorgeous views of the mountains around us. Mo and I had a blast exploring the open roads and hills around our B&B. Pauola, the sweet Colombian […]

Lake Como

From Milan we took a train, then a ferry across Lake Como. When I say take your breath away views, I am not exaggerating.  There is nothing more beautiful then when mountains collide with the deepest of blue waters. The sunsets were surreal. We rode the ferry to where we were staying near the Bellagio. One sketchy moment was when […]

Milan

We were ENAMORED by Milan.  The richness of the architecture and the beauty in every little detail from the simple designs of homes to intricacies of monuments.  I loved that there was color everywhere. Blooming flowers overflowed off  windowsills and whether I was looking at the floor, wall or ceilings there was touches of an artist hue in every […]

The Road to Milan

We finally made it to Milan following thirteen hours on planes, a train and a taxi. We initially landed in Zurich and explored for a few hours waiting on the train that would take us into Italy.  Right away we ran into our first “we’re not in Kansas anymore” moment. Mo had to go to the bathroom.  Once we found […]
